  • Primary doctor

Some contributing factors to be ruled out include but not limit to the followings:

  • Signs of past strokes
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Depression
  • Sleep apnea 
  • Thyroid disorder 
  • Vitamin B-12 deficiency
  • Hemorrhages
  • Brain tumor

Assessment of memory problems:

  • Mental status testing: 
    • Test your thinking (cognitive) and memory skills to evaluate your degree of cognitive impairment.
  • Neuropsychological tests:
    • Evaluated by a specialist trained in brain conditions and mental health conditions (neuropsychologist) to evaluate your memory and thinking (cognitive) skills.
  • Interviews with friends and family: 
    • Interview patient’s family members or friends about the patient’s behaviors.
