On 5/2/26, Musical Memories Project was honored to welcome distinguished musicians Rena Feller and Diane Cohen as guest performers for our recital at Memphis Jewish Home. Their beautiful program for clarinet and violin brought artistry, elegance, and warmth to the residents through an afternoon of chamber music.
Rena Feller has served as the E-flat/Second Clarinetist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra since 1986. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College and her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where she studied with David Weber. From 1991 to 1999, she was principal clarinet with the Berkshire Opera. An accomplished recitalist and chamber musician, Ms. Feller has premiered and recorded numerous contemporary compositions while also maintaining an active private teaching studio in Memphis.
Diane Cohen is the Assistant Principal First Violinist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and a dedicated educator. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University in 2007 and her Master of Music degree from Arizona State University in 2009. Her professional career has included previous positions with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.
Together, they presented a captivating and diverse musical program featuring:
J.S. Bach – Bourrée II from English Suite No. 2 in A minor, BWV 807
W.A. Mozart – Andante con variazioni from Sonata for Violin and Piano in F Major, K. 377
L.V. Beethoven – Duo & Rondo from Duo No. 1, WOO 27 for Clarinet & Violin
Stanley Friedman – Meyn Ziskind (“My Sweet Child”)
Darius Milhaud – “Jeu” (Vif) from Suite, Op. 157b for Clarinet and Violin Duet
Their performance brought moments of joy, reflection, and connection to the residents, demonstrating once again how live music can enrich the lives of seniors and create meaningful shared experiences.
We are deeply grateful to Rena Feller and Diane Zelickman Cohen for sharing their time, artistry, and musicianship with the Memphis Jewish Home community.
