Musical Memories Project is pleased to feature Dr. Alyce Tarver as this month’s Musician Spotlight, recognizing the artistry and lasting impression her performance made on our senior audience.

On January 3, 2026, Dr. Tarver performed for the residents of Wesley Meadows Retirement Community as part of a Musical Memories Project & BY2S recital. From the first note, the room grew quiet with focused attention. Many residents listened with visible awe, deeply moved by the beauty, warmth, and expressiveness of her voice.

Performance at Wesley Meadows

Dr. Tarver presented a thoughtfully curated program that spanned opera and musical theatre, offering both familiarity and elegance. Her performance included:

  2. Porgi, Amor — Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

  3. Quando m’en vo soletta — Giacomo Puccini

  4. My White Knight — Meredith Willson

Dr. Tarver was accompanied on the piano by Maeve Brophy, whose expressive and supportive playing complemented the vocal lines beautifully. Maeve’s accompaniment added depth and color to the program, allowing the music to unfold naturally and gracefully.

Dr. Alyce Tarver is a soprano and voice instructor with a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. She has performed extensively with Opera Memphis in a wide range of productions and is also an experienced teacher of voice and piano. Her work reflects a deep understanding of vocal artistry and a strong connection with her audience.
