At Musical Memories Project, we believe in the transformative power of live music to bridge generations, spark cherished memories, and bring warmth to our community. Our recent "Moonlight & Sweet Dreams" recital at Silvercreek Senior Living Community was a heartwarming celebration of music, family, and togetherness.

A Dreamy Theme & Grandparents Day Celebration

To fit our cozy "Moonlight & Sweet Dreams" theme, our youth performers traded traditional stage attire for their favorite pajamas! Their festive spirit set a relaxed, joyful tone for the afternoon.

The recital coincided with Grandparents Day, making the occasion even more meaningful. Student volunteers from Bridge of Youth to Seniors (BY2S) delivered handcrafted cards and handmade gifts to the residents. These personal gestures brought bright smiles and created sweet moments of intergenerational connection before the music even began.

Young Artists Take the Stage

Our young musicians delivered wonderful instrumental performances, showcasing their hard work and artistic growth:

  • Noah Lim performed Schumann's reflective Träumerei and Mozart's lively Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

  • Kai Bernard brought energy with Beethoven's Ode to Joy (Arr. Faber).

  • Atlas Yuksek performed Mouret's classic The Highlander.

  • Kerem Yuksek shared Beier's charming Melody.

  • Alex Hulette played Daniel Speer's Air in D Minor alongside Nancy Faber's Broadway Boogie.

  • Jamal Hulette delighted the audience with Nancy Faber's Mister Bluebird.

  • Simon Taylor rounded out the student portion with Telemann's Minuet in G Major.

Special Guest Performance by Michelle Shrader

We were honored to welcome Memphis-based guitarist, singer, and music teacher Michelle Shrader as our guest artist. Michelle regularly shares her gift of music across senior living communities throughout Memphis and the surrounding region.

Her setlist brought timeless mid-century jazz standards and acoustic pop classics to life, inspiring warm sing-alongs and quiet reflection throughout the room:

Dream a Little Dream of Me (Doris Day)
All of Me (Billie Holiday)
Summertime (Ella Fitzgerald)
Blue Moon (Billie Holiday)
All I Have to Do Is Dream (The Everly Brothers)
Moon River
Fly Me to the Moon (Frank Sinatra)

Heartfelt Thanks

We extend our deepest gratitude to Michelle Shrader for her captivating guest performance, to the dedicated young musicians and BY2S volunteers, and to the staff and residents at Silvercreek Senior Living Community for welcoming us so warmly.
