On Saturday, October 17, 2026, Musical Memories Project joined hands with Bridge of Youth to Seniors (BY2S) to present an extraordinary afternoon of international music for the residents and families at The Farms at Bailey Station.
Our cross-cultural program brought together local student volunteers, dedicated educators, and incredible guest artists to share melodies spanning traditional Turkish folk tunes, classic European repertoire, Asian folk songs, and American favorites.
A Global Musical Journey
To kick off the afternoon, Bridge of Youth to Seniors (BY2S) presented an inspirational International Music mini-documentary, highlighting how music acts as a universal language that bridges cultures and brings harmony to the world.
The live performances featured guest artists Esra Karagoz Yuksek and Oguzhan Yuksek, who enchanted the audience with a rich set of traditional Turkish songs—including a special performance of Take Me Home, Country Roads featuring traditional Turkish ney woodwind accompaniment right after their 5th song! Pianist Lisa Ramirez delivered a stunning performance of Manuel Ponce’s Balada Mexicana, bringing vibrant Latin American classicism to the stage.
We extend our deepest thanks to music teachers Maeve Brophy (https://maevebrophy.com) and Lisa Ramirez (https://www.lisaramirezpianostudio.com) for encouraging their students to perform and share their musical gifts with our community.
To close out the event, members of BY2S led an interactive World Musical Instrument Demonstration as our grand finale. Youth volunteers showcased unique global instruments—including the djembe, khartals, güiro, cabasa, and more—demonstrating how each instrument is played before inviting our senior audience to try playing the instruments themselves!
