There is something truly magical about the way music can bridge generations, spark old memories, and bring a community together. On June 6th, 2026, the air at The Heritage at Irene Woods was filled with exactly that magic during our latest event, "Songs from Old Movies & Classic Melodies." It was an afternoon dedicated to beloved piano melodies, unforgettable cinematic tunes, and heartfelt connections.
From wonderful piano pieces to soaring vocal performances, the day was a beautiful reminder of the joy that music brings into our lives.
Act I: Masterpieces & Melodies from the Keys
The afternoon commenced with a stunning Music Recital featuring talented pianists. The dedication and artistry of these performers set a beautiful tone for the rest of the event.
From the Studio of Lisa Ramirez: The audience was treated to an incredible lineup. Ms. Lisa Ramirez captivated everyone with a deeply moving performance of Beethoven's legendary Moonlight Sonata. Sharing the bench from her studio were Charlie Woodring and the brilliant Rebecca Ramirez, whom we were especially honored to have perform just after winning her prestigious Tennessee Music Teachers Association (TMTA) award for piano solo! Both she and Charlie brought wonderful energy, skill, and inspiration to the recital.
From the Studio of Maria DeBacco: The adorable Kaiden Bernard took to the piano, completely charming the room. As one of our youngest performers, his wonderful talent and bright presence brought instant smiles to the faces of our audience, delivering a performance that drew some of the warmest applause of the afternoon!

Act II: Delivering Joy with BY2S
As the opening piano performances concluded, our BY2S youth volunteers stepped in to brighten the room with a special intermission. They delivered beautifully crafted star jars filled with handwritten wishes, along with handmade cards created by California chapter leader Easton Lee.
Watching the volunteers share these gifts—laughing, chatting, and connecting across generations—brought genuine joy to the residents and became one of the most touching moments of the afternoon.

Act III: A Journey Through Silver Screen Classics
For the final act, we took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, celebrating the legendary soundtracks of old movies and classic musical theater.
Acelynn Saisuphaluck kicked off the cinematic set with a powerful, soul-stirring rendition of "My Way," famously featured in the classic film Goodfellas.
Noah Lim & Maria DeBacco teamed up for a delightful duet performance, treating the audience to the sweet, nostalgic notes of "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music, before completely shifting gears to get toes tapping with ABBA’s infectious hit, "Dancing Queen" from Mamma Mia.
Chip Houston & Maria DeBacco closed out the afternoon with an extraordinary performance. Chip blew everyone away with a beautiful 5-song set of theatrical masterpieces, perfectly bringing to life:
"Oh What a Beautiful Morning" (Oklahoma)
"Look To The Rainbow" (Finian's Rainbow)
"Moon River" (Breakfast at Tiffany's)
"Try to Remember" (The Fantastiks)
"Ol' Man River" (Show Boat)
Our Thanks to You All
Thank you to the residents, guest artists, teachers, student musicians, volunteers, and BY2S collaborators whose talent, kindness, and joyful spirit made this event truly special. We are also deeply grateful to the staff of The Heritage at Irene Woods for their gracious support and hospitality in bringing this celebration to life.
